Job summary

RR Donnelley is seeking a Billing Analyst in Illinois to handle all aspects of client billing, from prebills to final invoices, ensuring compliance with guidelines.

The role requires at least two years of billing experience in a law-firm or professional setting, strong Excel skills, and familiarity with DMS, Aderant or Elite systems.

You'll work in a fast-paced team environment, communicate with clients and management, and contribute to accurate financial reporting and timely payments.

Qualifications

• Associates degree or advanced degree preferred with concentration in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
• Minimum two years of billing experience in a law-firm or professional organization required.
• Experience with client Document Management Systems (DMS)
• Ability to create spreadsheets, manipulate data and generate reports
• Detail oriented with excellent organizational and time-management skills
• Ability to multitask and meet stringent deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment as well as taking ownership for individual assignments
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills with ability to effectively present results to senior management
• Ability to interface with senior management, vendors, and client staff
• Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office; strong Excel background
• Experience with Aderant or Elite/Elite 3E and/or BI products strongly preferred
• 10-key calculator proficiency strongly preferred

Responsibilities

• Generate and distribute prebills/proformas, assist with month end processing, draft correspondence, perform time and expense transfers and edits, generate reports, manage timeliness of billing, allocate unapplied funds, perform write-offs
• Prepare attorney/client invoices, including fixed fee, batch, retainer, contingency, etc.
• Ensure accuracy of work product, determine appropriate bill formats, prepare spreadsheets or supplemental billing documents, manage client billing requirements/guidelines, understand firm/client fee arrangements
• Perform time entry narrative edits and proofreading
• Assist customers with billing inquiries, troubleshoot issues and follow-up with operational areas
• Review and edit time entries to ensure compliance with client guidelines
• Create and maintain required spreadsheets to track/monitor various functions as needed
• Special projects as assigned
• Ensure all client specific needs are met regarding billing processes, alternative billing arrangements, etc.
