Job summary

South Shore Health is seeking an Executive Director of Laboratory Services to provide strategic, operational, financial, and regulatory leadership across the system's laboratory operations, including core lab, microbiology, blood bank, and pathology partnerships.

The role ensures high-quality, patient-centered service, adherence to CAP/CLIA/JCAHO, workforce development, and collaboration with executives, clinical leaders, and physicians to support growth and quality objectives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Medical Technology or related sciences; master's preferred.
• 5+ years progressive clinical lab operations experience.
• 3 years in administrative management preferred.
• MT or MLS license required at time of hire.
• Experience with CAP/CLIA/JCAHO standards and regulatory programs.

Responsibilities

• Oversees operational leadership of core lab, microbiology, blood bank, and pathology partnerships.
• Leads strategic planning, service expansion, and technology adoption across labs.
• Ensures CAP/CLIA/JCAHO compliance and quality management across sites.
• Manages operating and capital budgets; drives cost-per-test efficiency.
• Recruits, develops, and retains laboratory leaders and staff; fosters teamwork.
• Collaborates with medical directors and executive leaders on initiatives.
