Job summary

Covington & Burling LLP seeks a Director of Knowledge Management and Practice Technology to lead the KM and Practice Technology team across Corporate, Litigation, Regulatory, and White Collar practices. You will drive adoption of structured knowledge assets, taxonomies, and AI-enabled workflows, partnering with the Director of Applied AI to ensure high-quality content and governance.

Qualifications

Minimum of 8 years of transferable professional experience in KM, legal technology, or related delivery roles within a law firm or professional services environment.
Strong leadership experience interfacing with senior leadership and managing teams.
Understanding of how legal workflows, taxonomies, matter intelligence, and practice data can support AI-enabled legal work.

Responsibilities

Lead and develop the KM and Practice Technology team across multiple practice areas, maintaining a high-performance culture.
Define and maintain firmwide standards for KM and practice technology, including taxonomies and AI-ready content.
Partner with practice leaders to identify and sequence KM opportunities that improve matter execution and client service.
Oversee design, deployment, adoption, and maintenance of KM/technology solutions (precedent libraries, clause banks, trackers, playbooks).
Establish governance for knowledge assets, ensure secure, compliant, and scalable operations.
