Job summary

American Credit Acceptance is seeking a Director of Compliance and Enterprise Governance to lead enterprise-wide governance and risk programs in Spartanburg, SC. The role partners with Legal, Internal Audit, Operations, Technology, Risk, and HR to advance governance across the organization and ensure regulatory alignment.

The onsite position requires relocation to Spartanburg by start date and offers an opportunity to shape governance frameworks and AI governance in a high-growth auto finance

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Risk Management, Legal Studies, or a related discipline.
• 10+ years of progressive compliance, regulatory, risk management, audit, or financial services experience.
• 5+ years of leadership experience managing managers and professional staff.
• Experience within auto finance or consumer lending preferred.
• Experience leading Regulatory Change Management, Vendor Management, Operational Resilience, AI Governance, or enterprise compliance transformation initiatives a plus.

Responsibilities

• Develop and execute strategic initiatives strengthening enterprise-wide governance and compliance practices.
• Lead a team and provide development opportunities for governance and compliance functions.
• Partner with executive leadership to set governance priorities aligned with regulatory expectations.
• Present executive and Board-level reporting on governance, risks, and strategy.
• Oversee fraud operations and fraud risk management activities.
• Collaborate with Operations and Technology to strengthen prevention and detection capabilities.
• Oversee Vendor Management Office activities and third-party compliance requirements.
