Job summary

AXA XL is seeking a Home Office Leader in E&S Casualty to oversee portfolio performance, develop underwriting guidelines, and drive profitable growth. You will partner with actuarial, claims, underwriting, legal and product teams to optimize operations and maintain compliance.

Ideal candidates bring extensive E&S Casualty underwriting experience, leadership ability, and a track record of training junior underwriters.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or relevant work experience.
• Extensive experience in E&S Casualty underwriting and robust understanding of insurance principles and regulations.
• Outstanding marketing relationships with production underwriting experience and broker contacts.
• In-depth underwriting expertise across general classes and high-volume portfolio management.
• Experience training, mentoring and developing junior underwriters.
• Strong organizational and time management skills with accurate math.
• Excellent collaboration in a fast-paced team environment.
• Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Willingness to travel at least 20% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Underwrite referrals and complex new/renewal business to drive profitable premium and rate goals.
• Collaborate with brokers/agents to tailor policies to client needs.
• Exercise risk analysis and discretion in decision making.
• Lead risk discussions and stay current on product, markets and guidelines.
• Maintain guidelines and processes to achieve AXA XL’s target portfolio.
• Lead profitability reviews and coordinate with cross-functional teams.
• Develop elite underwriters through training and knowledge sharing.
