Job summary

AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, seeks an Underwriting Manager for E&S Casualty to lead a high-performance team and drive profitable growth in the West region. You will oversee referrals, monitor losses, and manage a portfolio while fostering strong broker partnerships.

You will report to the Head of West, E&S Casualty, with travel about 20% and a requirement for a Bachelor’s degree; CPCU/ARM designations are a plus.

Qualifications

Extensive E&S Casualty underwriting experience.
Extensive underwriting and/or broker experience with knowledge of underwriting, rating methods, forms and processes.
Previous underwriting management experience is preferred.
Outstanding existing broker relationships within their assigned territory with production underwriting experience.
Bachelor’s Degree; CPCU/ARM designations are a plus.

Responsibilities

Develop and manage a team of underwriters to win new business and retain customers.
Support the successful execution of region’s strategic plan with a focus on assigned Territory.
Oversee referrals and portfolio health by monitoring losses, retention and pipeline management.
Handle an existing portfolio of E&S Casualty business, meeting growth goals and profitability for the region.
Evaluate appropriate risk premium by considering risk costs, underwriting and admin costs to ensure profitability.
Initiate opportunities for cross-selling and build outstanding broker relationships.
Control timely implementation of New and Renewal accounts according to quality standards.
Travel requirements estimated at 20%.
