Job summary

Vaco by Highspring in San Jose, CA, seeks an Interim Assistant Controller to oversee core accounting operations and support timely financial reporting. Hybrid role requiring on-site work 3 days/week with potential for conversion to permanent position after approximately six months.

The role leads monthly close, reviews financial statements, ensures revenue recognition compliance, strengthens internal controls, and partners with business leaders to drive accurate reporting and process

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
CPA or active CPA progress recommended.
6+ years of progressive accounting experience with GL and close.
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP and revenue recognition.
Experience with ERP systems and advanced Excel.

Responsibilities

Oversee daily accounting operations and maintain GL integrity.
Lead monthly and quarterly close, including journal entries and reconciliations.
Prepare financial statements, management reports, and schedules.
Evaluate contracts for revenue recognition and accounting treatment.
Analyze cost of sales, operating expenses, and other drivers for accurate reporting.
Oversee internal controls and process documentation; support audits.
