Job summary

Vaco by Highspring is seeking an Interim Assistant Controller to lead accounting operations and ensure continuity during a major systems transformation. This on-site role in the San Francisco East Bay is expected to last about 12 months.

You will direct close processes, GL, audits, and internal controls while partnering with Finance, Operations, and Supply Chain to support the ERP implementation and improve reporting accuracy.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA preferred.
• Progressive accounting leadership at Assistant Controller or comparable level.
• Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, general ledger accounting, financial reporting, close management, internal controls, and audit support.
• Experience in consumer products, manufacturing, or inventory-heavy environments with exposure to inventory and cost accounting.
• ERP implementation/finance transformation experience and advanced Excel/large-scale accounting systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead monthly, quarterly, and annual close activities for accurate reporting.
• Oversee general ledger, journal entries, accruals, reconciliations, and balance sheet analysis.
• Provide leadership across order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, payroll, inventory, and fixed assets.
• Ensure compliance with U.S. GAAP and internal policies; support audits.
• Assist with ERP implementation through design, testing, and control development.
• Identify opportunities to improve close timelines, reporting quality, and data accuracy.
• Coach and support accounting team members.
