Job summary

Waggoner Engineering seeks an experienced Industrial Client Account Manager to grow and strengthen relationships with industrial clients, aligning them with the firm’s engineering and environmental capabilities across Southeast locations. The role combines relationship management, business development, and industry knowledge to expand existing accounts and identify new opportunities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field from an accredited college or university.
• Minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience, preferably within engineering consulting, environmental services, industrial infrastructure, or a related A/E/C environment.
• Experience working with industrial clients and a strong understanding of the needs, challenges, and decision-making processes within industrial organizations.
• Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain long-term client relationships and identify opportunities to expand services and grow accounts.
• Experience with business development activities such as account planning, opportunity identification, proposal development, client presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Working knowledge of engineering and environmental services supporting industrial facilities, such as water and wastewater, infrastructure, permitting/compliance, site development, or related services.
• Ability to understand client business and technical challenges and effectively connect those needs with appropriate technical resources and solutions.
• Strong communication, presentation, negotiation, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to interact effectively with client leadership, technical professionals, project teams, and internal stakeholders.
• Strong organizational and strategic-thinking skills with the ability to manage multiple client relationships and opportunities simultaneously.
• Ability and willingness to travel as needed to meet with clients, visit project sites, and participate in industry events.
• Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and/or an advanced degree is a plus but not required.

Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain, and grow strong relationships with key industrial clients, building connections across multiple levels of client organizations.
• Gain a thorough understanding of each client’s business, facilities, operational priorities, capital plans, and technical and environmental challenges to anticipate needs and identify opportunities.
• Develop and execute strategic account plans focused on client satisfaction, relationship growth, revenue opportunities, and long-term partnerships.
• Identify and pursue new business opportunities within existing and prospective industrial accounts, working collaboratively with Waggoner’s technical and business development teams.
• Lead and support opportunity development efforts, including client positioning, capture planning, proposal strategy, presentations, and contract negotiations.
• Connect client needs with Waggoner’s engineering, environmental, water/wastewater, and other technical capabilities to develop solutions that deliver meaningful value.
• Collaborate closely with project managers and technical teams throughout project delivery to maintain strong client communication, monitor satisfaction, and proactively address concerns.
• Maintain awareness of industrial market conditions, regulatory drivers, client investment priorities, and competitive activity to help inform business development strategy.
• Represent Waggoner within relevant industry organizations, conferences, networking events, and other client-facing activities to strengthen relationships and expand the firm’s presence in the industrial market.
• Track account activity, upcoming opportunities, relationship development, and business development efforts while communicating key insights and priorities with Waggoner leadership.
• Support a collaborative, client-focused culture by sharing market knowledge and helping teams develop effective approaches for serving and growing industrial accounts.
