Job summary

Phoenix House New York is seeking a Human Resources Business Partner to serve as a strategic and hands-on partner to assigned programs and departments. The role builds strong relationships with leaders and employees, translating priorities into practical people strategies and delivering day-to-day HR support.

The HRBP uses data and policy to identify needs, advise stakeholders, and support implementation of approved decisions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred; equivalent combination considered.
• At least five years of progressive HR experience advising managers.
• Working knowledge of federal, state, and local employment laws.
• Experience in unionized, healthcare, or nonprofit environments preferred.

Responsibilities

• Build trusted partnerships with leaders and maintain regular meetings.
• Translate priorities into practical people strategies and actions.
• Advise managers on performance, attendance, conduct, and policies.
• Conduct workplace investigations when assigned; present findings.
• Support labor relations activities in partnership with CHRO and leaders.
• Assist staffing plans, recruitment priorities, and onboarding.
• Maintain HR systems documentation and compliance across programs.
