Job summary

UTMB Health is seeking an experienced Department Administrator to support the department's operations, staff coordination, policy development, and strategic planning. The role focuses on developing guidelines and ensuring efficient administrative processes.

The incumbent will direct administrative activities, participate in budgeting, and supervise staff while advancing organizational goals in a on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent and four years of related experience.
• Preferred: Bachelor of Science degree.
• Preferred: Ten years of relevant clinical and/or administrative research experience.
• Preferred: Experience working within UT systems.

Responsibilities

• Directs administrative support activities for the department, including records, agendas, minutes, reports, and plans.
• Develops planning, management, and organizational analysis documents; sets goals and coordinates guidelines, policies, and standards.
• Works with the Department Administrator to develop long- and short-term goals and strategic plans.
• Interviews and hires employees.
• Supervises administrative staff for efficient department operation.
• Oversees staff development of administrative personnel.
• Oversees transitions related to organizational changes.
• Assists in planning and budgeting of the department.
• Identifies internal controls and monitors compliance.
• Completes special projects, surveys, and ad hoc reports.
