Job summary

Mexican American Opportunity Foundation seeks an experienced GL & Accounting Operation Manager to oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting for multiple programs. You will supervise accounting staff, ensure GAAP compliance, and coordinate audits with the CFO and finance team.

The role focuses on strengthening internal controls, improving financial processes, and delivering timely, accurate statements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting/Finance required; Master's preferred.
• Minimum of seven (7) years of progressive accounting experience with at least two (2) years supervising staff.
• Nonprofit and fund accounting experience in multi-entity programs, including government-funded programs.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, Federal Uniform Guidance, cost principles, and allowable costs.
• Experience with federal/state audits, including Single Audits, and responding to findings.
• Experience with cost allocation methodologies and grant-related financial reporting.
• Hands-on management of general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, payroll, and month-end close.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff and leadership.

Responsibilities

• Oversees month-end close, posting of complex journal entries, and GAAP compliance.
• Leads balance sheet reconciliations and integrity of financial statements.
• Manages AR functions, cash receipts, and drawdowns.
• Prepares monthly cash flow reports and weekly investment reports.
• Supervises accounting staff, ensuring GAAP compliance and internal controls.
• Supports external audits and prepares required schedules and documentation.
• Collaborates on ERP system enhancements and process improvements.
• Serves as liaison with banks, internal departments, and vendors.
