Job summary

Mexican American Opportunity Foundation is seeking an Accounting Manager to oversee the general ledger, month-end close, and financial reporting. You will supervise staff, coordinate audits, and maintain internal controls in a nonprofit, multi-entity environment.

The role works with the CFO and Finance leadership to ensure regulatory compliance, effective cash management, and accurate financial statements. This is a full-time, in-person position with competitive benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field.
• Seven years of progressive accounting experience, including at least two years of supervisory or management experience.
• Demonstrated experience in nonprofit and fund accounting with complex, multi-entity and multi-program environments.
• Advanced knowledge of GAAP and Federal Uniform Guidance (2 CFR Part 200).
• Experience preparing for and supporting federal/state audits, including Single Audits.
• Strong cost allocation and grant-related financial reporting experience.
• Hands-on experience in GL, AP, AR, payroll, and month-end close.
• Ability to communicate financial information clearly to non-financial staff.

Responsibilities

• Oversee month-end close, post complex journal entries, ensure GAAP compliance.
• Review and reconcile balance sheet and income statement accounts for accuracy.
• Oversee Accounts Receivable activities, deposits, drawdowns, and cash receipts.
• Prepare monthly cash flow and weekly cash/investment reports for planning.
• Supervise accounting staff, ensure GAAP conformance and internal controls.
• Assist with external audits and Form 990 preparation as applicable.
• Collaborate to maintain and enhance ERP/general ledger systems.
• Serve as liaison with banks and stakeholders to ensure compliance.
