Job summary

CNA Insurance is seeking an individual contributor to manage commercial claims with moderate to high complexity, located in New York. The role requires handling policy interpretation, investigations, and settlements with adherence to company protocols and customer service standards.

You will collaborate with internal and external partners, review coverage, establish reserves, and ensure timely disbursements while maintaining regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically four years of relevant experience in claims.
• Must obtain insurance adjuster license within 90 days of hire.
• Professional designations such as CPCU are a plus.

Responsibilities

• Manage commercial claims with moderate to high complexity and exposure by verifying policy coverage, investigating, developing resolution strategies, and disbursing within authority.
• Provide exceptional customer service with insureds, claimants, and partners, meeting quality and cycle-time standards and updating inquiries promptly.
• Verify coverage and establish reserves by interpreting policy language and coordinating with coverage counsel on complex matters.
• Conduct focused investigations to determine compensability, liability, and damages with supporting documentation.
• Maintain relationships with internal and external partners to resolve claims effectively.
• Authorize and ensure disbursements within authority limits by determining liability and negotiating settlements.
• Contribute to expense management by timely resolution and efficient resource use.
• Identify subrogation/salvage opportunities or fraud indicators for referral to Recovery/SIU teams.
• Meet quality standards by following guidelines and maintaining proper documentation.
• Stay compliant with state/local insurance laws and trends for the line of business.
• Mentor/coach less experienced claim professionals.
