Job summary

CNA Insurance is seeking an individual contributor to manage commercial claims with moderate to high complexity for a specific line of business. Under moderate direction, you will investigate, value losses, and resolve claims while maintaining regulatory compliance and strong customer service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
• Typically four years of relevant experience, preferably in claim handling.
• CNA Claim Training Program may be considered after 2 years of claim handling experience.
• Must have or be able to obtain and maintain an Insurance Adjuster License within 90 days of hire, where applicable.
• Professional designations are a plus (e.g. CPCU)

Responsibilities

• Manage an inventory of moderate to high complexity and exposure commercial claims by following company protocols to verify policy coverage, conduct investigations, develop and employ resolution strategies, and authorize disbursements within authority limits.
• Provide exceptional customer service by interacting professionally with insureds, claimants and business partners, achieving quality and cycle time standards, providing regular updates and responding promptly to inquiries.
• Verify coverage and establish reserves by reviewing policy language and partnering with coverage counsel on more complex matters.
• Conduct focused investigations to determine compensability, liability and damages by gathering information and statements.
• Establish and maintain relationships with internal and external partners to resolve claims.
• Authorize and ensure claim disbursements within authority, negotiate settlements and escalate to manager as needed.
• Contribute to expense management by timely and accurate resolution of claims while overseeing resources.
• Identify subrogation or fraud opportunities and refer to Recovery/SIU as needed.
• Achieve quality standards by following guidelines, documenting properly, and ensuring proper disbursements.
• Maintain compliance with state/local regulatory requirements by staying current on laws and trends.
• May mentor less experienced claim professionals.
• May perform additional duties as assigned.
