Job summary

OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems. In this role, you will own delivery end-to-end, embedding with customers to map workflows, define a technical plan, and drive multi-stream execution across teams in NYC.

This high-trust, high-autonomy position requires 7+ years of technical delivery leadership, relocation support, a hybrid 3 days in-office model, and travel up to 50% to accelerate deployments.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of customer-facing technical delivery leadership.
• Track record of leading large, complex customer engagements with AI.
• Excel in high ambiguity environments; simplify complex work.
• Bridge system-level view to execution; map workflows and architectures.
• Think strategically and pattern-match; align needs to scalable solutions.
• Strong technical fluency and sequencing instincts.
• Have shipped AI/LLM systems with production awareness.
• Able to translate complex trade-offs to business leaders.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical delivery plan for multiple interdependent work streams with milestones.
• Run day-to-day engineering execution across OpenAI FDE and customer teams.
• Embed with customer teams to land deployments, map workflows, drive adoption.
• Partner with Product and Research to land components on time.
• Codify solution patterns and extract reusable field signals.
• Own value cases and ROI, set KPIs and report to exec sponsors.
