Job summary

OpenAI’s Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to turn research breakthroughs into production systems, guiding delivery from planning to adoption. This role owns end-to-end delivery, embedding with customer teams, and coordinating across FDE, researchers, and product teams to ensure on-time deployments and measurable impact.

The position is based in San Francisco with a hybrid model (3 days in the office per week) and relocation assistance.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of customer-facing technical delivery leadership.
• Experience leading large, complex, high-stakes customer engagements involving AI.
• Ability to work in high ambiguity environments and simplify complex work.
• Fluency in moving between system-level understanding and execution detail.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical delivery plan for multiple interdependent work streams.
• Run day-to-day engineering execution across OpenAI FDE and customer teams.
• Embed with customer teams to land production deployments and drive adoption.
• Partner with Product and Research to land platform components in time for deployment goals.
• Codify solution patterns and evals; extract reusable field signals.
