Job summary

OpenAI's Forward Deployed Engineering team partners with customers to translate research breakthroughs into production systems. You will own end-to-end delivery, embedding with customer teams to map workflows, drive deployments, and ensure adoption.

The role requires deep technical project management, ownership of outcomes, and collaboration across engineering, product, and research. This is a high-trust, high-autonomy position based in New York City with a hybrid work model (3 days in office)

Qualifications

• 7+ years of customer-facing technical delivery leadership.
• Experience leading large, complex customer engagements involving AI.
• Ability to operate in high ambiguity environments and simplify complexity.
• Ability to map customer workflows, architectures, and constraints to deliverables.
• Strong executive communication and pattern recognition for scalable solutions.
• Experience shipping AI/LLM systems and deploying production-grade architectures.

Responsibilities

• Own the technical delivery plan for multiple interdependent work streams.
• Run day-to-day engineering execution across OpenAI FDE and customer teams.
• Embed with customer teams to land production deployments and drive adoption.
• Partner with Product and Research to land platform components on time.
• Codify reusable patterns and field signals to improve products.
• Own value cases and ROI with KPIs and pre-/post-deployment measurements.
