Job summary

City of Buda, TX is seeking a Public Works Technician to perform field maintenance, inspection, repair, and construction on stormwater systems and related City infrastructure. The role supports keeping drainage facilities functioning, reduces flood hazards, and maintains safe access to public facilities.

Emphasis on using hand and power tools, operating City vehicles, and documenting work performed. Starting salary depends on applicant qualifications and experience.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid driver\'s license; Texas CDL valued.
• Willingness to obtain CDL.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and vehicles.

Responsibilities

• Maintains drainage channels, culverts, detention ponds, inlets, outfalls, easements, and related facilities to support water flow and reduce flooding risks.
• Inspects stormwater facilities and work areas for blockages, erosion, and safety hazards; reports findings to prioritize maintenance.
• Performs routine maintenance, repair, and construction work on drainage facilities using hand tools, power tools, and equipment.
• Mows, trims, removes brush, manages vegetation to keep access areas clear and reduce obstructions.
• Applies herbicides only as trained and authorized.
