Job summary

The City of Austin is seeking a Drainage Operations and Maintenance Assistant to support the Open Waterways section of the Watershed Protection Department. You will assist with storm drainage construction and rehabilitation, conduct maintenance, and interact with the public as needed.

Qualified candidates will have at least six months of maintenance or construction experience, a valid Class C driver license, and the ability to perform physically demanding outdoor work in various weather

Qualifications

• Six (6) months experience in maintenance and/or construction and/or concrete work.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative equipment maintenance and minor repairs.
• Operates hand tools and maintain equipment such as saws, mowers, and other tools.
• Performs traffic control, builds concrete forms and maintains drainage infrastructure.
• Performs landscape maintenance and erosion control work.
• Works in storm water management facilities and stream bank projects.
• Assists during emergency events and completes daily administrative forms.
• Participates in training to obtain a CDL.
