Job summary

Sarasota County Government seeks a Civil Engineer to support stormwater management through site development review, watershed planning, and model updates. You will evaluate development proposals, provide technical comments, and collaborate with engineers of record to resolve issues.

You’ll maintain watershed models, perform CFHA reviews, and support building permit reviews. The role emphasizes coordination with County departments and external partners for responsible development and flood risk

Qualifications

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with two years of engineering/project management experience.
Master’s Degree in Civil Engineering or related field with one year of professional civil engineering experience.
Equivalency can substitute education on a year-for-year basis.
Must obtain EI certification from Florida Board of Engineers at time of hire.

Responsibilities

Review site development permits and county projects for compliance with the UDC and watershed models.
Prepare written comments and coordinate with engineers of record to resolve concerns.
Review earth-moving permits and plats for stormwater compliance.
Maintain development plans, files, and models; participate in DRC meetings.
