Job summary

Sarasota County is seeking an Civil Engineer to join the Stormwater team, focusing on watershed modeling, site development review, and floodplain planning. You will coordinate models, review permits for stormwater compliance, and work with engineers, county staff, and external partners to support responsible growth.

Your role supports drainage assessment, CFHA reviews, and aiding in development of county watershed records, ensuring consistency across GIS and modeling tools.

Qualifications

• Requires a Civil Engineering degree or higher with related technical experience.
• Bachelor's degree required; advanced degree and EI certification preferred.
• Authorized Engineer Intern certification at time of hire is required.

Responsibilities

• Update watershed models and maintain GIS databases.
• Review site development permits for stormwater compliance with UDC and constraints.
• Provide technical comments and coordinate with engineers to resolve stormwater issues.
• Conduct CFHA reviews to assist Building Department with base flood elevation data.
