Job summary

Sarasota County seeks an engineering professional to strengthen watershed management through modeling, development reviews, and stormwater planning. You’ll coordinate model updates, review permits, and address drainage/floodplain concerns across departments and partners.

Key duties include maintaining models, providing stormwater analysis for projects, and participating in public hearings and DRC meetings. Monday–Friday work hours apply, with emphasis on responsible growth and environmental

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related technical field; advanced degree preferred.
Experience in civil/structural engineering projects and stormwater planning.
Professional certification (EI) preferred or required by hire date.

Responsibilities

Update and maintain watershed models and GIS database to reflect new development.
Provide stormwater modeling support for maintenance projects and evaluate alternatives.
Review site development permits for compliance with UDC, models, and stormwater requirements.
Prepare technical comments and coordinate with engineers to resolve stormwater concerns.
Maintain development plans and models and integrate approved plans into County records.
Review development plans for stormwater compliance and participate in DRC meetings.
Conduct CFHA reviews to assist Building Department with base flood elevations.
