City of Austin is seeking a Drainage Operations and Maintenance Assistant to support the Open Waterways section of the Watershed Protection Department. The role involves routine maintenance and assisting with construction and rehabilitation of storm drainage infrastructure, including public-facing duties.

Responsibilities include equipment maintenance, tool operation, traffic control, concrete formwork, landscaping, and vegetation management in creek channels.

Formación

• Six months of maintenance, construction, or concrete work experience.
• Ability to read and follow written and oral instructions and safety rules.
• Ability to operate hand and power tools and basic equipment safely.

Responsabilidades

• Performs preventative maintenance and repairs on equipment.
• Operates and maintains gas/diesel/propane equipment and tools.
• Performs traffic control at job sites with cones and barricades.
• Constructs and forms concrete structures and grades bedding for pipes.
• Performs landscaping, erosion control, and vegetation maintenance in creek channels.
• Assists with storm water facilities and emergency response tasks.
