Job summary

DICK’S Sporting Goods in Virginia is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to drive sales and athlete engagement by leading and developing a high‑impact retail team. You will coach teammates to deliver exceptional service and implement key business strategies that elevate the athlete experience.

You’ll recruit, train, and mentor staff, manage store operations, schedules, and payroll, and ensure safety and policy compliance while creating a welcoming environment for athletes and teammates alike.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent.
• 1-3 years experience.
• 1-3 of retail management experience (or customer-focused experience).

Responsibilities

• Collaborates with the Store Manager to develop and execute full-year business growth plans, including forecasting and planning 90+ days out.
• Directly manages a team of Captains (Supervisors) and indirectly manages broader store team through influence, coaching, and development.
• Upholds merchandising standards by ensuring compliant execution of floor sets, signage, price changes, and inventory presentation.
• Demonstrates ability to lead, execute and validate key training initiatives for leaders of others.
• Partners with Store Manager on staffing plans, payroll, and scheduling to align with budget goals.
• Hires and builds strong teams, owning hiring decisions for Captains/Supervisors and hourly staff as appropriate.
• Holds teammates accountable for safety, policies, and customer service expectations.
