Job summary

Meijer, a family-owned retailer, is hiring a store leader to plan, direct and supervise day-to-day operations. You will mentor staff, implement strategies to boost customer service and sales, and maintain store standards with a focus on prime hours and presentation.

You will manage staffing, promote development, handle disciplinary actions, and contribute to P&L, while upholding safety and the company’s friendly culture.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• 1 year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other store areas (meat, bakery, produce, deli) or related customer service experience.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and provide direction.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution and root-cause problem solving.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and analyze basic financial information.
• Demonstrated ability to mentor a diverse team and drive safety practices.

Responsibilities

• Plan, direct and supervise team members in day-to-day store operations.
• Serve as mentor and coach for all team members.
• Implement strategies to improve customer service and drive store sales.
• Maintain store appearance with focus on prime shopping hours and product presentation.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promote succession planning and identify development needs for team members.
• Document and apply disciplinary actions and make recommendations on discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and controlling shrink.
• Model exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Ensure team training completion and ongoing development.
• Communicate the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings.
