Job summary

Meijer Inc. is seeking a store leadership professional to plan, direct, and supervise daily store operations. You will mentor team members, drive customer service and sales, and maintain store standards across departments while ensuring safe, efficient operations.

The role emphasizes staff development, succession planning, and adherence to company programs during prime shopping hours. A strong focus on customer experience and operational excellence is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• 2–3 years of related retail experience.
• One year of management experience.
• Rotational assignments in other areas of the store such as meat, bakery, produce and deli; customer service and product flow helpful.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly to team members.
• Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and manage multiple tasks.
• Ability to analyze basic financials and provide data-driven decisions.
• Experience mentoring team members at various hourly/leadership levels.

Responsibilities

• Ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to customers and team members.
• Staffing, selection and hiring to meet staffing needs.
• Promotes succession planning by identifying development needs and involvement in promotion decisions.
• Documents disciplinary actions and makes recommendations concerning discharge.
• Responsible for P&L, achieving sales and maintaining shrink for the department.
• Models exceptional, fast and friendly customer service.
• Communicates the Meijer Friendly Initiative in team meetings and conversations.
• Mentors and coaches team members to meet customer service and sales goals and maintain Meijer standards.
• Ensures staff are trained in all job aspects and complete required training.
• Spends majority of time in-store interacting with customers and team members to ensure excellent service.
• Promotes a safe, reliable work environment and consistent attendance.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
