Job summary

The Michaels Companies, Inc. is seeking a Sales Manager for the DC-Wheaton, MD area to lead front-end and service operations, drive selling behaviors, and deliver an engaging customer experience.

You will coach teams, manage daily store operations, and champion omnichannel services like BOPIS and Same Day Delivery while upholding brand standards and SOPs. As a Sales Manager, you will promote loyalty programs, mentor staff through onboarding, and ensure safety and asset protection practices

Qualifications

• 3+ years retail leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Assist Store Manager in leading and managing adherence to SOPs and Company programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and requirements.
• Ensure execution of Company policies and standards, holding team accountable for store conditions and results.
• Model and coach Customer Experience and ART of Selling behaviors, driving conversion and customer satisfaction.
• Provide Manager-on-Duty coverage, maintaining floor leadership, service standards, and operational continuity.
• Ensure accurate and efficient use of POS and Self-Checkout systems, supporting smooth transactions and customer support.
• Oversee in-store programs and events including Balloons, birthday party operations, and Loyalty Rewards Program adoption.
• Drive sales and operational excellence in the Knit & Sew Shop and oversee the Cut Bar experience.
• Support BOPIS and Same Day Delivery for timely order fulfillment and omni-channel service.
• Train, coach, and develop team members through structured onboarding and ongoing skill-building across departments.
• Partner in maintaining Asset Protection practices, reducing shrink through awareness, compliance, and safe operations.
