Job summary

Safeway is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee operations when Store Director and ASD are unavailable. This role entails supervising staff, handling customer issues, coordinating with late shift teams, and guiding merchandising execution to meet store goals.

The position emphasizes leadership, training, and the ability to respond quickly to daily operational needs. Strong communication, initiative, and a background in retail are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Four or more years retail experience required.
• Retail grocery experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Works with the ASD on center of store operations and fills in for ASD on their days off or while the ASD is on vacation.
• Manages total store operation including supervision of all employees and customer relations in the absence of leadership.
• Initiates corrective action as needed in the absence of leadership.
• Coordinates with late shift staff to plan day-to-day operations and complete merchandising tasks.
• Trains Head Clerks/PICs for possible promotion to Third Person in Charge.
• Supports safety programs and company policies to ensure a safe shopping environment.
