Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Stores Manager-level professional to support the management and duties of store operations, helping meet financial and sales goals while building strong associate and customer relations.

You will model the company’s guiding principles, ensure security, safety and food safety standards, and lead the Store Manager when needed, driving excellent service, compliance with policies, and a positive, energetic store culture.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances.
• Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained while employed in a position requiring accreditation.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop associates.
• Manage performance through coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture aligned with Guiding Principles and Core Values.
• Maintain customer-facing atmosphere with focus on fast and easy service.
• Ensure proper control of store funds and assets.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions and ensure compliance with safety standards.
• Understand and use company tools and systems (ACIS, CAO, scheduling, reports).
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when Store Manager is absent.
• Assist Store Manager with day-to-day operations across the store.
• Model excellent customer service and core behaviors.
