Job summary

Food Lion in Sterling, VA is seeking an experienced Store Manager to lead daily store operations, develop associates, and drive sales while upholding safety and food safety standards. You will hire, train, coach and evaluate staff, manage budgets and assets, ensure excellent customer service, and serve as Manager on Duty when the Store Manager is absent.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances.
• Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
• Must be able to meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Certified Food Safety Manager accreditation or eligible within 90 days; accreditation maintained while employed.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop store associates.
• Manage performance through coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
• Provide leadership and motivation within the store to promote a culture aligned with Guiding Principles, Core Values, Vision and Strategy.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with emphasis on fast and easy service.
• Ensure proper control of all store funds and company assets.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions that could cause accidents.
• Observe and ensure compliance with security, safety, and food safety standards.
• Use company tools such as financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, CAO, and business information systems.
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when Store Manager is not present.
• Assist the Store Manager with day-to-day operations.
• Model customer service and instill this value in associates.
• Adhere to all guidelines, policies and standard practices.
• Maximize sales through excellent customer service and minimize shrink.
• Ensure store conditions, customer service and satisfaction, product quality, freshness, availability, variety and execution of policies.
