Job summary

Safeway in Pleasanton, CA is seeking a Third Person in Charge to oversee daily store operations when the Store Director and Assistant Store Director are unavailable. This role is a key step toward store leadership development and may lead to management opportunities.

You will supervise staff, handle customer issues, coordinate with hiring and training, and ensure merchandising and safety standards. Strong communication, initiative, and ability to work independently are essential.

Qualifications

• Education level: High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Four+ years of retail experience; grocery experience preferred.
• Strong customer service, supervisory and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Works primarily closing shifts to run total store operations in the absence of the Store Director and Assistant Store Director.
• Works with the ASD on center of store operations and fills in for ASD on days off or vacations.
• OveralL management responsibility for total store operation, including supervision of all employees and handling of customer complaints in the absence of leadership.
• Initiates corrective action as needed in the absence of the Store Director and ASD.
• Acts as liaison between Store Director/ASD and late shift operations to ensure smooth operations.
• Maintains enthusiastic customer service and engages in suggestive selling and other sales techniques.
• Performs ordering, receiving, storing, pricing, stocking and merchandising duties, coordinating with late shift staff.
• Prepares night and day stockers task lists for closing and day shifts.
• May perform duties of the receiving clerk in absence of Inventory Control Clerk.
• Builds and executes marketing and merchandising plans with Head Clerks, PICs, and Food Clerks.
• Coordinates with Store Director to ensure shelves are stocked and displays are optimized.
