Job summary

Family Dollar in Johnson City, TN is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to assist with store operations, customer service, and team development. You will help with day-to-day activities, organize merchandise, and support opening/closing procedures.

Ideal candidates have retail leadership experience, strong communication, and the ability to supervise staff while maintaining a safe, friendly store environment. Part-time role with emphasis on customer satisfaction and efficiency.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and perform physical tasks as required.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address questions or concerns.
• Assist in organizing and transferring merchandise from delivery to stockrooms and sales floor.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process corporate directives and store communications.
• Maintain promotional effectiveness of store fixtures and displays.
• Assist in ordering merchandise and handle payroll, scheduling, and cash handling tasks.
• Maintain a well-stocked sales floor and organized stockroom to company standards.
• Protect and secure all company assets, including store cash.
• Adhere to policies and safety guidelines; supervise and develop Store Associates.
• Ensure a positive, safe, and respectful environment for customers and staff.
