Job summary

Family Dollar is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run daily store operations, guide a team, and deliver excellent customer service. You will supervise associates, oversee merchandising, and ensure safety and efficiency across opening, closing, and payroll tasks.

The role emphasizes strong communication, teamwork, and leadership in a fast-paced retail setting, with responsibilities for inventory, loss prevention, and store presentation. Part-time hours may apply at certain locations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred; ability to read, interpret, and explain operational directives.
• Store management experience in retail, grocery, or drug store environment is preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 55 lbs and meet demands of frequent walking, standing, stooping, kneeling, climbing, pushing, pulling, and repetitive lifting.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and written skills are required.
• Ability to work in a high-energy, team environment is required.
• Exceptional customer service, organizational, and communication skills are required.
• Strong problem solving and decision-making skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with store functions and day-to-day store activities.
• Help customers in a positive, approachable manner and address any questions or concerns they may have.
• Help organize and transfer merchandise from delivery truck to stockroom to sales floor and maintain seasonal areas.
• Perform opening and closing procedures as needed.
• Process all corporate directives and related communications.
• Maintain promotional fixtures and displays for effectiveness.
• Assist in ordering merchandise, processing damaged merchandise, record keeping (including payroll, scheduling, and cash deposits) and loss prevention.
• Maintain a well-stocked and organized store and stockroom.
• Protect and secure store assets, including cash.
• Adhere to safety policies and ensure associates follow procedures.
• Help Store Manager supervise, train, and develop Store Associates.
• Maintain a positive, safe, and respectful environment with customers and staff.
• Ensure cleanliness throughout the store and restock as needed.
• Other duties as assigned.
