Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store. You will assist with supervision of staff, merchandise presentation, deposits, stocking and cashier duties, and daily banking tasks.

You will help schedule and train employees, enforce policies, manage inventory, and support store leadership in the Manager's absence. This role emphasizes profitability, asset protection, and exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cash handling policies and practices.
• Ability to read and interpret diagrams, safety rules, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform math calculations including percentages.
• Experience with cash register functions and generating reports.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet and assist customers, and operate cash register and scanner to itemize the customer's purchase.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist Store Manager with scheduling employees, providing training, safety meetings, and ensuring policy compliance.
• Follow work processes to manage merchandise, including receiving, stocking, restocking and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and controls.
• Assist in planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure financial integrity through cashier accountability, cash control procedures, refunds and overrides.
• Assist with management of the store in the Store Manager's absence.
