Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to support the Store Manager in running a clean, customer-first store. The role includes supervising store staff, merchandising, deposits, stocking, and cash handling while safeguarding assets.

You will help schedule employees, train crew, enforce safety and policies, and ensure planograms are followed. This position requires strong interpersonal skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment and six months supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership; greet customers and operate cash register.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Process merchandise flow: receiving, stocking, restocking, and display setup.
• Maintain inventory accuracy and control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Support planograms compliance and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure cashier integrity, deposits, refunds, overrides, and till counts.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
