Job summary

Dollar General is seeking an Assistant Store Manager to help run a clean, customer-first store and support the Store Manager with supervision, merchandising, paperwork, and deposits. The role includes stocking, cashiering, and protecting company assets.

You will lead customer service, train staff, schedule, manage inventory, and ensure planograms and cash controls. This is a fast-paced role requiring reliability and ability to work with minimal supervision.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent is strongly preferred.
• Experience in a retail environment is beneficial and supervisory exposure is preferred.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills are required.

Responsibilities

• Provide superior customer service leadership and operate the cash register and scanner.
• Open and close the store a minimum of two days per week.
• Assist with scheduling, training, safety meetings, and policy compliance.
• Follow processes to manage merchandise, receiving, stocking, and displays.
• Maintain accurate inventory and control damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Support planogram implementation and merchandise presentation.
• Ensure cashier accountability, cash control, refunds, and bank deposits.
• Assist with store management in the Store Manager's absence.
