Carter Lumber is seeking an Assistant Manager to drive daily store operations, provide professional service to contractors and DIYers, and lead a team toward sales and profit goals.

The role emphasizes inventory control, training, and ongoing development, with a focus on building relationships, delivering estimates, and maintaining high standards of customer service across all departments.

Qualifications

• Previous retail management experience, preferably in building materials.
• Experience selling to contractors is preferred.
• Proven track record in sales management in building materials.
• Ability to direct and train others effectively as a team leader.
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability.
• Strong problem solving and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations: manage and implement overall store direction including inventory management, safety, and procedures; communicate sales and profit goals.
• Staff Management: hire, motivate, discipline and develop employees; set clear goals and monitor achievement.
• Sales & Relationship Building: grow inside sales, handle estimates and quotes, maintain customer relationships and resolve complaints.
• Knowledge & Training: identify growth needs, complete training, encourage employee development.
