Job summary

ACarter Lumber is seeking an Assistant Manager to focus on daily store operations, outstanding customer service to contractors and do-it-yourself clients, and to drive sales and profitability. This role includes supervising employees, managing inventory, and communicating goals to the team.

The position emphasizes leadership, training, and alignment with company goals to promote growth and efficiency in a retail building materials environment.

Qualifications

• Retail management experience, preferably in the building materials industry.
• Experience selling installed sales to contractors preferred.
• Proven track record in sales management, preferably in building materials.
• Ability to direct and train others effectively as a team leader.
• Demonstrated ability to increase sales and profitability.
• Strong problem solving abilities and conflict resolution skills.

Responsibilities

• Store Operations: Assists in managing and implementing the overall direction of the store, delegating and overseeing inventory management, safety, and policies.
• Staff Management: Directs hiring, communication, motivation, discipline, and other employment areas; ensures goals are set and met.
• Sales & Relationship Building: Grows inside sales by estimating and take-offs, maintaining relationships, following up on quotes, coordinating delivery and resolving customer complaints.
• Knowledge & Training: Identifies growth needs, completes training, and encourages employee development.
