Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Operations Manager to oversee a pro-oriented lumberyard. The role focuses on achieving performance and sales goals while controlling costs, with emphasis on inventory accuracy and effective leadership of store staff.

You will coordinate with field teams and internal departments to ensure smooth store operations, drive customer service, and maintain safety and compliance. A proven track record in retail building materials is required.

• Previous sales, operational and management experience in a pro building materials store.
• Experience dealing with contractors.
• Experience analyzing inventory activity.
• Demonstrated leadership qualities.
• Analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Outgoing personality and ability to build relationships with customers.
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Oversees store operations, inventory, and yard activities.
• Directs and manages store staff including hiring, training, scheduling, and discipline.
• Manages inside sales and collaborates with General Manager to meet sales and profit goals.
• Identifies training needs and supports ongoing product knowledge and career development.
