Job summary

Food Lion is seeking a Store Manager to oversee daily store operations, lead a team of associates, and drive achievement of sales and financial goals. You will guide hiring, training, and performance management while ensuring safety, security, and food safety compliance at all times.

As Manager on Duty when needed, you will maintain high customer service standards and manage budgets, assets, and store procedures across departments in a fast-paced retail environment.

Qualifications

• College degree or equivalent preferred.
• Department Manager or equivalent experience required.
• Strong understanding of store operations and total store merchandising techniques.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service and communication skills.
• Excellent organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to learn multiple tasks and technical requirements of the job.
• Good judgment solving problems, making decisions, handling complaints, arbitrating disputes and resolving grievances.
• Desire and ability to lead and manage associates throughout multiple departments.
• Must meet the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.
• Must meet minimum age requirements to perform specific job functions.
• Must be accredited by the National Registry of Food Safety Professionals or similar accrediting organization as a "Certified Food Safety Manager" or will be required to attend company provided training and have the ability to achieve accreditation within the first 90 days of employment. Accreditation must be maintained.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, and develop associates.
• Manage performance through coaching, appraisal and disciplinary efforts.
• Provide leadership to promote a culture reflecting guiding principles and values.
• Maintain an atmosphere of enthusiastic customer awareness with focus on fast, easy service.
• Control store funds and assets.
• Observe and correct unsafe conditions.
• Ensure compliance with security, safety and food safety standards.
• Use tools like financial reports, ACIS, scheduling, CAO, and business information systems.
• Support achievement of store budgeted financial and operating results.
• Serve as Manager on Duty when Store Manager is not present.
• Assist the Store Manager with day-to-day operations.
• Model customer service and instill it in associates.
• Adhere to company guidelines and standard practices.
• Develop associates to meet staffing needs across departments.
• Maximize sales through customer service and minimize shrink via standard practices.
• Ensure store conditions, product quality, availability, and policy execution.
• Ensure compliance with local/state/federal regulations.
• Ensure staffing schedules meet business needs.
• Interacts with associates to ensure understanding of expectations and training.
