Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager to oversee all store operations, staffing, training, and inventory control. You will lead a team to deliver excellent customer service, maintain merchandising standards, control costs, and ensure compliance with company policies.

You will be responsible for opening/closing the store, scheduling, coaching employees, and driving sales performance while upholding safety and security procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures manuals
• Ability to perform basic math calculations including percentages
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposits
• Ability to operate IBM cash registers and generate reports
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Interpersonal skills and ability to train and coach staff
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling, termination and legal compliance
• Familiarity with cash, facility and safety control policies

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees and ensure proper staffing levels
• Provide training and conduct performance evaluations; address gaps or counseling needs
• Recommend pay raises and advancement opportunities
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings
• Open and close store each day as scheduled
• Monitor sales, profits, and inventory; manage in-stock targets and replenishment
• Ensure proper merchandising, pricing, and signage; maintain presentation standards
• Maintain accurate inventory, limit damages, and control shrink
• Ensure cashier accountability and security procedures are followed
• Provide strong customer service leadership and maintain a safe, clean store environment
• Ensure proper store operations and paperwork are completed on time
