Job summary

Books-A-Million is seeking an Assistant General Manager in Murfreesboro, TN, to oversee day-to-day store operations as a Manager On Duty and support the General Manager in executing store strategies.

You will lead a team to maximize sales and customer service, manage schedules, training, and onboarding, and ensure adherence to company policies while maintaining security and merchandising standards.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years of age or older (interpretation of store policy)
• High school diploma or equivalent; some college preferred
• Experience in a supervisory role or store leadership
• Ability to supervise a large number of associates and make good decisions
• Proven merchandising, communication, and leadership abilities
• Successfully complete background screenings

Responsibilities

• Maximizes profits and customer service by leading assigned category team and operating the store in adherence to all company policies, procedures, and guidelines.
• Operates the store as the Manager On Duty in conjunction with the management team.
• Maintains the physical security of the store and acts as a key-holding manager.
• Ensures the highest level of customer service and resolves complaints to a satisfactory conclusion.
• Maintains category merchandising and cleanliness and ensures operational efficiency.
• Assists General Manager with interviewing, hiring, and onboarding new talent.
• Trains and develops Associates and Leads.
• Facilitates effective communication through daily briefings and weekly/monthly meetings.
• Consults with the General Manager on associate performance.
• Drops off bank deposits and handles change orders as needed.
• Creates schedules and daily agendas to match business needs.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
