Job summary

Dollar General Corporation seeks a store management leader to oversee planning, staffing, training, and execution of daily store processes. You will drive ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, and customer service while controlling costs and ensuring policy compliance.

You will recruit, coach, and evaluate staff, manage opening/closing shifts, and maintain safety and inventory controls. Strong communication and organizational skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents such as diagrams, safety rules, operating instructions, and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform mathematical calculations including percentages.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and cashier accountability.
• Ability to perform cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Effective interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge of recruiting, interviewing, hiring, counseling and termination practices including legal compliance.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees; ensures store is properly staffed.
• Provides training, conducts evaluations, and counsels as needed, up to termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance and safety expectations; coordinates meetings to reinforce policies.
• Manages opening/closing; ensures store staffing at required levels.
• Evaluates operating statements for trends, profitability, and shrink.
• Monitors ordering plans and inventory; handles BSR and cycle counts weekly.
• Facilitates staging, stocking, and storage of merchandise following company processes.
• Ensures merchandise presentation, pricing, and signage align with practices.
• Maintains accurate inventory by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
• Upholds financial integrity with cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, safe store environment; supports a secure working/shopping space.
• Ensures store is equipped with necessary tools to perform tasks.
• Follows SOPs, handbook, and internal communications; ensures compliance.
• Completes all paperwork and documentation by deadlines.
