Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a store management professional to oversee planning, staffing, and execution of store processes including ordering, stocking and selling. You will train staff, monitor performance, and ensure safety, cash controls, and policy compliance while maintaining a customer‑focused environment.

The role requires strong leadership, organizational skills, and ability to manage daily store operations, open/close routines, and inventory control.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including cashier accountability and deposit control.
• Knowledge of reading and interpreting documents such as safety rules and procedures manuals.
• Knowledge of IBM cash register functions to generate reports.

Responsibilities

• Recruit, select and retain qualified employees per laws and company policies.
• Provide proper training for employees; conduct performance evaluations; counseling up to termination.
• Make recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicate performance, conduct and safety expectations; coordinate meetings and events.
• Ensure store is staffed and opened/closed each day.
• Open the store at least twice weekly and close at least twice weekly.
• Evaluate operating statements for sales, profitability, and turn; review inventory issues weekly.
• Review ordering plans to meet in-stock targets and manage BSR/cycle counts.
• Facilitate staging, stocking and storage of merchandise per company processes.
• Ensure merchandise is presented per practices; manage pricing and signage.
• Maintain inventory levels by controlling damages, markdowns, and paperwork.
