Job summary

Insomnia Cookies is hiring a Store Manager in Training in Kalamazoo, MI, to supervise, train and onboard hourly staff while assisting the Store Ops Manager with ordering, inventory and scheduling. You’ll perform as Manager-on-Duty when the GM isn’t present and help drive upselling and exceptional service.

Ideal candidates have at least 1 year in a supervisory role in food service or retail, experience interviewing hourly staff, and familiarity with POS systems and MS Office/ATS.

Qualifications

• 1 year of supervisory experience in a restaurant or retail environment
• Experience interviewing hourly staff in person
• Proficiency with POS systems andMS Office/ATS
• Able to work a 4–5 day schedule Thu–Sun
• Must be 18+ and legally eligible to work in the United States

Responsibilities

• Perform as Manager-on-Duty during scheduled shifts when the GM is not present.
• Supervise, train and coach 2–5 team members in cookie sales and deliveries.
• Lead onboarding and initial training for new hourly staff.
• Conduct initial interviews for potential hires in the manager's absence.
• Support ordering, inventory control and scheduling with Store Ops Manager.
• Hold staff accountable to Insomnia Cookies’ standards and policies.
• Upselling and delivering exceptional customer service across the team.

What will I do as a MIT with Insomnia Cookies?

• Perform as Manager-on-Duty during scheduled shifts when Store Ops Manager (GM) is not present.
• Supervise, train and coach 2-5 team members engaged in both cookie sales and customer deliveries.
• Lead new hourly staff onboarding and initial training.
• Conduct initial interviews for potential new hires (Cookie Crew, Shift Leaders and Delivery Drivers) in the manager’s absence.
• Support Store Ops Manager with ordering, inventory control and scheduling.
• Hold staff accountable to Insomnia Cookies’ standards (baking, uniform, company policies, etc.).
• Upselling and overall customer service excellence - Ensuring all team members are also upselling and providing the best customer service.

Desired skills/experience

• At least 1 year of experience in a supervisory role within a restaurant or retail store
• Prior experience conducting in-person interviews of hourly support staff
• Prior Point of Sale (POS) systems experience
• Ability to utilize MS Office, Word and our Applicant Tracking System
• Ability to work a 4-5 day work week and 1-2 mid-to-late shifts throughout the latter part of the week (Thurs- Sun)
• Must be 18 years of age or older and have legal eligibility for employment in the United States
