Job summary

Dollar General Store Manager Candidate in Illinois supports the Store Manager in implementing store processes, supervising employees, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This role is designed to foster interactive development of an external candidate for the Store Manager role and is held for a limited period.

Responsibilities include recruiting and staffing support, merchandising, inventory control, in-stock target achievement, customer service

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent strongly preferred.
• One year of experience in a retail environment preferred for external candidates
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures and inventory management
• Ability to read and interpret documents; basic math
• Bilingual Spanish speakers may be preferred for some locations

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising by staging, stocking and pricing merchandise.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management including damages and markdowns.
• Follow prescribed ordering practices to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company policies and procedures; participate in opening/closing.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds; maintain cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork according to guidelines and deadlines.
