Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate to support the Store Manager in employee supervision, staffing, inventory management, stocking and receiving, paperwork, and store needs. This role is to develop external candidates for the Store Manager track for a limited period.

Responsibilities include assisting in recruiting, merchandising, inventory accuracy, and ensuring customer service excellence, while upholding company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

• Ability to read and interpret documents and procedures manuals.
• Ability to perform basic math calculations.
• Knowledge of cash handling procedures including deposit controls.
• Familiarity with IBM cash register functions to generate reports.
• Knowledge of inventory management and merchandising practices.
• Knowledge of cash, facility and safety control policies.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stocking according to established practices.
• Assist in inventory management, damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork and controls.
• Follow ordering practices to meet or exceed in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Follow company procedures and policies as outlined in handbook and SOPs.
• Participate in opening/closing activities and bank deposits.
• Maintain financial integrity through cashier accountability and cash controls.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and safe environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements to identify trends and opportunities.
• Complete all paperwork and documentation timely.
