Job summary

Dollar General is seeking a Store Manager Candidate in Effingham, IL, to support the Store Manager in daily operations, staffing, inventory, merchandising, and customer service. This role focuses on developing an external candidate for the Store Manager position and is for a limited period.

The candidate will assist in recruiting, stock presentation, and inventory control, while ensuring store procedures, safety, and cash controls are followed.

Qualifications

• Must understand diagrams, safety rules, and operating instructions.
• Able to perform basic calculations and percentages accurately.
• Knowledge of cash handling and deposit controls.
• Familiar with IBM cash register functions and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Assist in recruiting and staffing activities.
• Assist with store merchandising and stock presentation according to policy.
• Assist in all aspects of inventory management and paperwork.
• Follow prescribed ordering to meet in-stock targets.
• Provide superior customer service leadership.
• Adhere to company procedures and policies as outlined in guides.
• Participate in store opening and closing activities.
• Ensure safe deposit of company funds; maintain cashier accountability.
• Maintain clean, well-stocked stores and a safe customer environment.
• Operate store in store manager's absence.
• Review operating statements for trends and opportunities; manage expenses and shrink.
• Complete paperwork and documentation on schedule.
