Job summary

Dollar General in Effingham, IL is seeking a Store Manager to lead all store processes including ordering, receiving, stocking, presentation, selling, staffing and support. You will recruit, train, and evaluate staff, ensure policy compliance, and manage daily openings/closings.

You will also analyze sales and inventory data, control costs, and uphold cash handling and safety standards while delivering exceptional customer service and a well-organized store environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• One year of management experience in a retail environment preferred.
• Strong communication and customer service skills.

Responsibilities

• Recruits, selects, and retains qualified employees according to federal and state labor laws and Company policies; ensure store is properly staffed.
• Provides proper training for employees; conducts performance evaluations; identifies gaps for appropriate solutions and/or counseling, up to and including termination.
• Makes recommendations regarding employee pay rate and advancement.
• Communicates performance, conduct and safety expectations regularly; coordinates meetings and events to encourage safety, security and policies.
• Ensures that the store is appropriately staffed and effectively opened and closed each day.
• Evaluates operating statements to identify business trends (including sales, profitability, and turn).
• Orders to ensure the meeting or exceeding of in-stock targets; reviews ordering plan and inventory management issues weekly.
• Facilitates the efficient staging, stocking and storage of merchandise by following defined Company work processes.
• Ensures that all merchandise is presented according to established practices; utilize fixtures properly including pricing and signage.
• Maintains accurate inventory levels by controls on damages, markdowns, scanning, paperwork, and facilities controls.
• Ensures the financial integrity of the store through cashier accountability and cash control procedures.
• Provides superior customer service leadership.
• Maintains a clean, well-organized store; ensures a safe and secure working and shopping environment.
